Miami's Superintendent on What Parents Don't Know About Public Schools

Miami-Dade County's Superintendent Rafael Villalobos sits down with us to address what most parents don't know — or get wrong — about the public school system. With over 300,000 students, 300+ schools, and seven straight years as an A district, he makes the case that Miami's public schools are far better than most people give them credit for. He also addresses head on why enrollment is declining, what really happened at Killian, and how students can now graduate with 45 college credits and industry certifications before they even leave high school.

We also get into the teacher salary crisis — $57,000 base salary in one of the most expensive cities in the country — and why Referendum 268 on the November 3rd ballot matters. Eighty-eight percent of that funding goes directly to teacher salaries. Plus magnet programs, charter schools vs public schools, the "woke" debate, school safety, mental health support, and his personal journey from principal at Ferguson Senior High to running the third largest school district in America.

If you have kids in Miami or care about where this city is headed — this episode is essential.
