South Miami Senior High (SMSH) Alumni Association

The South Miami Senior High Alumni Association is dedicated to preserving the proud legacy of our school while investing in the success of current and future Cobras. Through scholarships, campus enhancement projects, mentorship, and community engagement, we unite generations of Alumni with a shared commitment to giving back and strengthening our Alma Mater.

What sets us apart in Miami-Dade County is our spirit of innovation and service. We proudly established the first-ever high school Alumni band in Miami-Dade County, bringing former musicians together to celebrate school pride, support student programs, and create lasting connections across generations. This pioneering initiative reflects our belief that Alumni can play an active role in enriching the public educational experience long after graduation.

The Alumni Association has also taken the lead in restoring one of South Miami Senior High’s most treasured symbols through the Rise of the Cobra Restoration Project. Spearheaded by the Association, this landmark effort has focused on bringing back the school’s iconic rooftop Cobra statue, a powerful emblem of tradition, pride, and unity for generations of students and Alumni.

In Fall 2026, the restoration will culminate in an epic ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the return of the Cobra statue to its rightful place. The event is expected to bring together Alumni, students, school leadership, city and county officials, Miami-Dade County Public Schools representatives, community partners, and distinguished dignitaries to honor this historic achievement and the enduring spirit of Cobra Nation.

Our mission is simple: honor the past, support the present, and inspire the future. By reconnecting Alumni, partnering with community leaders, and championing opportunities for students, the South Miami Senior High Alumni Association continues to build a legacy of excellence that extends far beyond the classroom.
