What No One Tells You Before Going to the Miami Book Fair
The Miami Book Fair hooks you from the first moment, but there's one detail not in the schedule.
November 15th, MDC Wolfson Campus, and the show begins. But, are you ready for what they don't tell you? Entry is $10, but it's more than that. It's a literary maze where you can get lost in over 500 stands. And sure, going prepared is everything.
They say the fair is a community festivity. The truth is, it's a sea of people. Thousands of readers and curious folks gather, but there's a corner that always surprises: Children’s Alley. Didn't expect that, did you? That place is a paradise for the little ones with activities that seem straight out of a dream.
And if you like to improvise, watch out for unannounced events: sometimes there are authors signing in unexpected places. I walked down 2nd Street, where I saw 47 people lined up for an author I didn't even know. This surprised me.
The music, the smell of Venezuelan empanadas from the food truck on Biscayne Blvd… everything makes you feel part of something bigger. But let's be honest, the real trick is in the small talks, where the secrets behind each literature are revealed. Those moments are gold.
Now that I've told you this, what corner will you discover at this fair? Or better yet, where will you get lost? The mystery always proves more interesting than the event itself.
